A New Name in The Lamb's Book of Life!

(This is my favorite blog ever to write!) Yesterday, Friday, was an amazing day at work and one that God used to dissolve my doubts if I’m suppose to be here. Let me give you a little back story first.

Tuesday I taught a Bible study to the Cabaña Ester, which is our second phase group of girls(there's 7 girls right now). We talked through the scriptures of the “Romans Road” and what it means to be saved, why we need salvation, and how do we get it. One of the popular teachings here in a lot of the evangelical churches is that if one, who is a Christian, is sinning when Jesus returns they will go to hell. All of my girls in this cabaña believe this. So they were very confused when I told them that I didn’t believe that’s true and touched briefly on it and will teach more on it in the following weeks. Please be in prayer for that. After this, they were all very interested in having individual spiritual counseling with me.

So yesterday morning, while I was getting ready, I was randomly thinking about what I would say if one of the girls asked me about what happens to someone if they killed themselves. I began thinking through it and my thoughts went to Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus and hung himself. After a few, I just filed it in my brain and thought nothing else of it.

I had my first individual with Grethel, who is an incredible young lady who loves Jesus and really is working hard in her process of sobriety. (She has been here for about 3 months.) Her question to me was “What happens to someone if they kill themselves?” After which she also mentioned Judas and how he was with Jesus. I was breathless! How awesome that God was preparing me just that morning for a conversation that He had already ordained!!

So we began to talk and I told her what my beliefs were and how I formed them through scripture (since there are no clear written words in the Bible about this.) We talked for a little bit and she then told me that she no longer wanted to live and was tired of it all. I shared with her several of my favorite scriptures to use when I feel alone or unloved. It was awesome to watch her eyes as she read out loud Psalms 139. Her exhausted, ready to give-up eyes softened and then began to tear up as the words of God’s intimate knowledge of us began to warm her heart. Then, there came a peace, a glimmer of hope and a smile! I love what God’s Word will do to a soul! The desire to end life was now gone. Yeah God!

After meeting with Grethel, I met with Stephannie. She is a sweet young lady as well who tends to try to push her limits with me a lot because “I like to.” She has been here for a little over 3 months. Like most of the girls, if they believe they are Christians, it’s because their family are Christians. She was struggling with a few questions. She didn’t feel like God was listening to her prayers. She also didn’t think that God would forgive her for playing satanic games and for not loving her mother. (Her mother abandoned her when she was less than 2 years old and she doesn’t even really know her.) She also was concerned that she couldn’t pay attention during devotionals and Bibles study.

We began to do some searching in what her relationship with Jesus was like. She hadn’t believed in God until she came to Renacer, in fact she use to think the devil was good and God was bad. We talked through the lesson from Tuesday and the verses in depth. She told me that she didn’t think that she was a Christian but she wants to have Jesus as her Savior. We talked a little bit more to ensure that she knew why she needed Jesus, what it meant that Jesus was her Savior and so on. Then she asked Jesus into her heart! PRAISE JESUS!

It’s moments like these that I stand in awe of God and can’t help but smile and dance! YEAH JESUS!
