I'm in the USA!

Well I have made it to Atlanta! It’s so crazy to be here in the USA. It’s so weird not being the one of the tallest people and hearing English all around me. I have had to stop and think about what language I am supposed to use. I even was so confused in the bathroom because I couldn’t find the trash can to throw the toilet paper in; it took me almost a minute to realize that it goes in the toilet here. Oh the joys of culture.

I always enjoy the plane ride because I of the people I might get to me. Today I had a sweet lady sitting next to me named Alexandra, who is a Costa Rican native but has lived in New York for 23 years. She usually returns back to Costa Rica once a year but had sadly returned back for the funeral of her 13 year old niece named Ginnette who died on 17 July from Leukemia. Ginnette had just had a bone marrow transplant 2 months ago and things looked really well but suddenly her body couldn’t fight off the infections and she passed away. She has a very rare form of Leukemia and was had a first of the kind surgery here in Costa Rica.

Please pray for Alexandra and her family and especially the parents of Ginnette. Pray that they will see God’s loving kindness all around them in every way. May they learn who God is and that He is the healer of all broken hearts.

Well time to go find a freezing cold corner to curl up in and try to sleep a little. Another strange thing – air conditioning – that’s cold!!! I can’t wait to be back home soon at 8:20pm!
