They Loved It!

Over the past 8 months, Tiffany (my co-worker) and I have been working on a program for Formación Cristiana (Christian Training). When I started working here, I saw a need to make the Formación Cristiana program look like the rest of the programs here at Renacer. The goal is that when the girls leave Reancer they will have a solid base in Christianity, understanding of who Jesus is and to know how to study the Bible on their own. Also we want to put together a book in which has all the teachings and activities to give to each girl so they can personally have it in hand and take it home with them once they leave Renacer.

We started with developing the goal for each cabin. Which are; Rut: that they may learn the basics of Jesus' life and that He can change them. Ester: that they may know the plan of salvation and know who they are in the eyes of God. Debora: that they will develop tools to use in their personal walk with Christ. Tamara: that they will learn how to live daily as a woman of God.

After we had the basics goals of each cabin we began to list what are the most important things for the girls to learn during their year here. Also, in what order should they be learned and in what cabin. After this was done we asked to talk with Cindy, coordinator/psychologist, to see if we could implement this program.

As with anything here, the key word is flexibility and patience. It took almost 2 months before we could even talk with Cindy about it. It actually was the week before I returned to the states. During the time I was home in the states, Tiffany talked through each lesson with Cindy and over about 2 months approved it. After I returned back to Renacer, Cindy gave us two and a half weeks to develop each lesson so that we could present it to Don Sergio, the director.

Over two and a half weeks we went through each lesson and wrote the goal for each lesson, the main Bible verses that we would use, the memory verse and the life applications points of the lesson. Of course I am a procrastinator and did it all on Monday for ten hours when it was due that Wednesday.

We presented it to both Don Sergio and Cindy, last Wednesday and they were very impressed with the work. Don Sergio repeated to me several times of how good of work that we did. He wants to put it in next year's manual and we will begin the program as of January.

I'm very excited to see this get under way and I can't wait to see how the book will eventually turn out but that is probably at least 6-9 months away. This week I have begun special Bible studies on the true meaning of Christmas with each cabin.
